About the coffee

The Rwenzoris are known for producing high-quality unroasted natural coffees. Our Ibanda micro-lot unroasted coffee was grown in altitudes ranging from 1,300-1,900 meter elevation and collected via the receiving stations, where farmers were paid double what they’re used to getting for “drugars” (low grade, dried Ugandan Arabica). Much of Uganda’s green coffee used to be made up of drugar grade coffees that were inconsistent and often of poor quality. As a result, farmers struggled to earn much cash from these harvests. The new receiving stations and updated washing stations are changing that. The new infrastructure enables coffee cherries to be delivered and processed into high-quality unroasted green coffees.

About the region

The Rwenzori mountain range is an up-and-coming source of high-quality Ugandan green coffee beans.  This coffee is produced from several small farms. The coffee is grown at an altitude of 1300-1900 meter elevation.

Receiving stations throughout the mountain range facilitate cherry collection before transporting them to a centralized wet mill, where processing can be carried out under careful supervision and quality control.
